Could you be the next GENIUS?

Applications for the 2018 GENIUS Olympiad are now available

News Facts 

  • The GENIUS Olympiad is a high school level competition relating to environmental issues

  • Projects fall into five categories including science, visual and performance, business, writing, and robotics

  • The application deadline for students/schools is March 1, 2018, and other rules apply

  • The date of the 2018 Olympiad is June 11-16, 2018 at SUNY Oswego NY

  • This year, there are three new trip options following the Olympiad to New York City, Washing DC and New York City, or Boston and New York City. Itineraries are available online.

 

"This experience was such an honor. Sharing my ideas on how we can help our planet has given me the inspiration to go into a career that's impactful. Winning this award has also given me so many opportunities I couldn't have imagined," said Science Grand Gold Medalist Jackie Stochel. Dr. Rachid Manseur, Professor and Chair of Electrical and Computer Engineering at SUNY Oswego stressed the importance of the Olympiad stating, "Events like these are critical. At the GENIUS Olympiad, we find future leaders in the arts, science, and writing industries. They are young, but recognize the value of sustaining our environment and the value of innovation."

About

Mission— GENIUS Olympiad promotes a global understanding of environmental issues and the achievement of sustainability through basic science, arts, creative writing, engineering, design, and business development. GENIUS Olympiad provides challenges and opportunities for secondary school students, to instill in them the skills and knowledge needed to be the citizens, leaders, scientists, artists, writers, engineers, and policy makers of the future—agents who will promote and contribute to greater environmental sustainability throughout their lives. GENIUS is also an abbreviation of Global Environmental Issues and us.
